Banana Sunday

Banana Sunday is the story of Kirby Steinberg, who is having a bit of trouble fitting into her new school. Sure, there’s the usual interest/antagonism associated with being from “somewhere else,” but the New Kid also happens to be guardian to three monkeys. Talking simians. Through a miracle of science they have all gained the power of speech. Or have they? What’s their REAL story? That’s what Nickels, Kirby’s new best friend and dedicated school reporter, intends to find out!

Banana Sunday is a comedy for readers of all ages that explores the themes of alienation, self-doubt, and the power of friendship. You know, high school. Written by Paul Tobin, drawn by me, and published by Oni Press, Banana Sunday was listed as one of the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) Great Graphic Novels for Teens for 2007.

Banana Sunday will be available October 24, 2018, in a newly revised edition, with color by Rian Sygh, from Oni Press.
