I’ve written a short story! A non-comic book short story! A non-comic book gay contemporary romance* short story! It’s called Home Port!
Here’s the promo blurb:
After months at sea, Petty Officer First Class Dean Mendez is back in San Diego, and he knows exactly how he wants to spend his first night home. Is the beautiful boy he finds on a nightclub dance floor the perfect companion for the evening, or is he much more?
Short story, approximately 6000 words.
This is my first prose creative writing since high school. I’ve been editing the hell out of it, and my plan is to self-publish for a low price with Smashwords—and whichever other on line stores I can figure out; Amazon perhaps—on or by February 14. (Because no one else is gonna be publishing romance on Valentine’s Day, right?) I’ll be posting more work in progress stuff here in the meantime. Stay tuned!
*Fair warning: this story will have f-words and man sex.

I wear glasses. It rains a lot in Portland.
I found out about an awesome series of Photoshop tutorials for designers from a blog post on Goodreads by one of my favorite authors and DIY publishing heroine, Jordan Castillo Price.*

The phoenetic pronunciation of my husband's name.
The tutorial I watched was all about using textures in a cool way, so of course like a kid with a new toy I had to play. Yesterday’s Sindiecate drawing of Super Dinosaur was created using the techniques I learned, and here are a couple of others!
*Do you like sexy romantic horror mysteries about a pill-popping, self-loathing Homicide detective who can see ghosts and also he is gay? You will if you read Jordan Castillo Price’s PsyCop books.

I drew this sketch while my husband Paul played a video of Chris Isaak singing “Wicked Game”, which we agreed is pretty much sex in a song.
I always wonder about songs with a longevity like “Wicked Game”. Does Isaak ever get sick of singing it? Will he ever? As Paul observed, he probably still likes making girls swoon helplessly, so maybe not.
