Small Favors was my first major comics project, and is possibly still my most popular work. Funny, romantic, and very definitely erotic, Small Favors tells the story of Annie and her sprite-like girlfriend Nibbil filling their happy days with happy sex. Published by Eros Comix, the adults-only imprint of Fantagraphics Books, it was created to be a fun, sexy comic book for women and men alike. To my great delight, it succeeded in a big way, and for eight issues I developed a fantasy world while honing my skills as a comics storyteller.
Since finishing the last issue, I’ve gone on to work on comics for all ages like Banana Sunday and my work for Marvel, and the graphic novel Gingerbread Girl. But I learned my craft on the naughty, playful pages of Small Favors.
This is a Safe For Work site, so I won’t provide any excerpts from Small Favors here. But I will share a snippet of one of my favorite reviews of the comic, by Leah Moore for prismcomics.org:
The whole experience is delightfully cosy (Not a word I use often when describing pornography). They are such fully rounded characters, you get the very real impression that they love each other, that their sexual antics are borne out of affection as well as lust, and that even the most depraved things they can think of to do to one another, are done with a wink and a cheeky grin.
Small Favors Vol. One is still available in various places on the Internet. Volume Two is currently sold out. However, there is a Complete Small Favors in the works for publication some time in late 2012 from Top Shelf Productions, so keep an eye out!
